About

Verdigris & Ambergris is the result of my need for artistic expression and a reflection of the things I love.  I’ve always felt a need to be creative and in the recent past I expressed this through floral arranging, designing my own wedding florals and arrangements, and also commissioned work.  My love of flowers and particularly roses is evident in my choice of web design.

My full-time job is in Washington DC, but this website reflects my true passion which is spending my weekends scouring yard sales, flea markets, and estate sales.  The items I select reflect my fondness for Baroque and Rococo design which is exemplified by the Palace of Versailles and the style of Marie Antoinette.  Highly  ornate and gilded items, florals in shades of pinks and blues are my personal favorites.  We should all live like queens; just not lose our heads (or an arm and leg) for it!  I enjoy creating and photographing vignettes and present my items in this manner to give an idea of how the items can work together, or how they may be presented  in your own home.

My business operates from the heart, and I only wish to provide my customers with quality, affordable items and great customer service.

What’s in a name?  Verdigris is that fantastic blue-green patina that occurs on copper and other metals and is highly desired by some.  Verdigris items add a wonderful garden feel to a décor and work nicely with all colors from pinks to reds and oranges.  Ambergris was historically used as a fragrance and fixative in perfumes, but my use of the word has more sentimental meaning, as it is mentioned in the lyrics of a favorite song:

I catch the scent of ambergris
And turn my head, surprised
My gaze is caught and held and I
Am helpless...mesmerized
